Project 365 Day 95 - April 4th

I got a new Bible today!!!  Yes, I'm excited over a new Bible.  My family is starting back at church and I wanted a new one to mark the occasion.  I got online and did some research because I wanted to find a Bible that is appropriate for me and my lifestyle.  This one is the Busy Mom's Bible.  I love it because if I only have a few minutes a day to sit down and read, there are sections with devotionals for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and longer.

Project 365 Day 94 - April 3rd

After three years living in Baldwin County, we finally stopped to explore the  Foley Railroad Museum.  I loved seeing all of the old traincars and the huge indoor train set they have inside.

Project 365 Day 93 - April 2nd

Keiran begged us today to go to the pool.  Of course, once we got there, all he wanted to do was lounge and snack on his peanut butter crackers.

Project 365 Day 92 - April 1st

We had another fun day outside playing in the park.  I love this photo because Keiran is looking off in the distance but you can't tell what he's looking at.  It leaves you wondering and trying to make up a story of your own to go with the photo.  He was actually watching some birds - he's recently gotten into chasing them.  LOL

52 Weeks of Pinterest - Week 14: Crocheted Awareness Ribbons

There are so many different colors of awareness ribbons now that it's sometimes difficult to keep them all straight.  There are several that I hold near and dear to my heart because loved ones have been affected by the illnesses the various colors represent.

I was so excited to find this pattern on Pinterest for Crocheted Awareness Ribbons by Crochet Memories.  I hadn't made any yet, but when my friend Kathy, who was diagnosed with Lupus several years ago, started campaigning to raise money for her team in the Walk for Lupus being held in Birmingham, Alabama, in June, I knew just what I wanted to do.

I found a beautiful purple yarn with a metallic threat running through it.  Rather than using an H size hook, I used a G - I tend to crochet tighter than most (I usually have to go up about 2 hook sizes to get the proper gauge) and wanted to keep the ribbons on the smaller side.  I then used white yarn in a baby weight to go around the edges.  Once the crocheting was completed, I used a standard pin back and hot glued them to the backs.  I made a bunch for Kathy to give her teammates, and many extras.  With the extras, we're selling them in exchange for a $5.00 donation to Kathy's team in an effort to help reach her goal fo $1000.  If anyone is interested in donating to the team, as well as to Lupus research, you can contact me and I'll get you the information.

Project 365 Day 91 - March 31st

Growing up a Navy Brat, I am custom to seeing anchors.  This, however, was the first time I'd seen an anchor in the middle of a park.  I thought it was so cool that I couldn't resist snapping a photo.

Project 365 Day 90 - March 30th

My son is a fanatic when it comes to bowling.  Whether it's on the Wii, watching it on tv (just like his Papaw), or playing it in any other way, he rarely turns down anything that has to do with bowling.  While at Michael's tonight, he found this inflatable bowling set.  We knew there was no way we were getting out of the store unless we either bought it for him or dealt with a major temper tantrum.  Since we had given Daisha some money for a trip to the circus today with some friends, we figured we'd go ahead and allow Keiran this little splurge.  It didn't hurt that I had a coupon and was able to get it for half price.

All in all, this set was definitely worth the money.  In just the first evening it has already brought many laughs to our home.  The funny faces on each of the bowling pins help in making you laugh for sure... each one is different so you never know what to expect when you snap a photo of them going down.
