Project 365 Day 113 - April 22nd

I'm not going to pretend to know what kind of flowers these are... I have no clue.  I just thought they were pretty so I snapped a photo when I saw them out in front of the office of our apartment complex.

Project 365 Day 107 - April 16th

This has got to be one of my favorite shots so far... it's simple but I love the way it turned out.  I love that the flower behind the fence is in focus more than the one poking through.  I love that you can see the rust on the chainlink so clearly, and that it actually looks beautiful when contrasted with the buttery yellow of the flowers.  And I love that the shot turned out so beautifully without any editing to enhance it!

Project 365 Day 105 - April 14th

I don't remember off-hand what kind of flowers these are (and it probably doesn't help that all you're seeing is the start of the bloom).  Both the flowers and leaves are huge - I'm hoping to get a shot of one fully open in the coming weeks as they start to open up more... we have two trees in the middle of our apartment complex that will be covered in these flowers before long!

Project 365 Day 101 - April 10th

Today's photo has no special significance or meaning - it's just some pretty flowers I found growing on the bush next to our building.

Project 365 Day 78 - March 18th

I love Spring!!!

Okay, so Spring doesn't officially begin for two more days, but here in our town, the brightly colored flowers are already in bloom.

Project 365 Day 71 - March 11th

Today's picture reminds me that the beauty in an object may not always lie in what you see... sometimes the beauty comes from what you don't see.  Take these terracotta pots, for instance - they appear to be battered and worn, empty and in need of being thrown out.  What you don't see is that every Spring my neighbor uses these pots to plant basil, flowers, and whatever else she is in the mood to grow and share with her friends.

Project 365 Day 60 - February 29th

The first flowers on the bushes are coming out.  Spring is in full swing already!

Project 365 Day 4 - January 4th

My original plan for my photo today was to snap a photo of something while out on the walking trail tonight.  Unfortunately, reality hit that trying to get a decent photo in the dark (or even spot something that I really wanted to shoot) wasn't likely to happen.

I figured I'd just come home and find a shot somewhere around the house.  I had my camera with me when I went to check the mail just in case - my camera goes pretty much everywhere with me anyway.  You never know when an opportunity may arise.  Out in front of the office of our apartment complex, I came across the flowerbeds in full bloom, despite the crazy weather we've been having.  There was one particular stem that caught my eye:

I was intrigued that coming from the same stalk, there were blooms that were completely dead, partially dead, and just coming to bloom.  It made me think of a phoenix and how something new grows out of the ashes of the old.

Just a note of something funny I noticed as I was scanning through my photos to choose one - if you look at the dead flower the right way, it almost looks like an evil monkey.  LOL  It reminds me of the evil monkey from Family Guy.
